Volkswagen group expands market share in February 2019

15.3.2019. The Volkswagen group delivered in February in the world 724.400 vehicles to customers, which represents a decrease of 1.8 percent compared to the same month last year.

Volkswagen has developed better than the continued decline in the world overall market and the group has once again won market share. This was in the regions of Western Europe, South America and Asia/Pacific.

In the largest single market, China, sales decreased significantly compared with the previous year (-7.4 percent), however, the group outperformed the weak overall market. Dr. Christian Dahlheim, head of Volkswagen group sales: “The Volkswagen group delivered in February, slightly less vehicles than last year, but worldwide market share in a declining total market. In spite of how challenging market environment expected to continue, we continue the solid Start to the new year. Due to our broad-based product offensive, we are confident to increase deliveries this year.“ The Volkswagen group’s brands will launch in 2019, a total of more than 90 new models in the market.

The delivery of the results of the regions in February:

In the Europe Region, the Volkswagen group brands delivered in February 2019, a total of 334.400 vehicles, which represents an increase of 1.1 percent compared to the same month last year. In Central and Eastern Europe, deliveries declined slightly by 1.5 percent to 61.100 vehicles. In Western Europe, the group handed over 273.300 vehicles to customers and thus achieved a growth of 1.7 percent. In the home market of Germany, the group brands with 105.500 delivered growth vehicles (+3.6 percent).

In the South America Region, the Volkswagen group delivered a total of 40.400 vehicles and thus achieved a strong increase of 34.3 percent compared to the same month last year.
