8.5.2019. A prominent new arrival at Audi Sport in the DTM For a weekend of Italian motorcycling Star Andrea Dovizioso (33) changes from its Ducati Desmosedici GP in the Cockpit of an Audi RS 5 DTM. The MotoGP world Vice-champion of 2017 and 2018 deny at 8. and 9. In June, the two DTM races in Misano (Italy).

This is a great number for the DTM and Motorsport as a whole.“
With 13 Grand-Prix Wins and 53 podium Andrea Dovizioso is one of the most successful MotoGP riders of the present day. In the past two years, the Italian has been with Ducati, each Vice world champion. After four of 19 races of the season in 2019, he is only three points behind championship leader Marc Marquez of MotoGP. With his DTM-debut Dovizioso sets out in the footsteps of the famous motorcycle racers such as John Surtees, Mike Hailwood and Johnny Cecotto, who were all on two and four wheels successfully – Cecotto in the DTM.
“I love cars and am in the fortunate position to be working with the Audi RS 5 DTM race,” says Andrea Dovizioso. “It is hard to do during the MotoGP season, but I am very happy, in a hard-fought series as the DTM. The car is great, but it is a very different challenge than with my Desmosedici GP and I must prepare accordingly. Therefore, I’ve turned a lot of laps in the Simulator before I went for the first Time in the Audi RS 5 DTM. For any Italian driver Misano is a special track and the place I have made in the past year, an incredible victory. Therefore, I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity.“
First experiences with the Audi RS 5 DTM, MotoGP Star gained on Tuesday after the DTM season start in the Audi competence Center Motorsport in Neuburg on the Danube. Prior to his DTM debut in the factory Ducati rider will be published on 22./23. May at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli the opportunity to get to test with the 610-horsepower Class 1 cars.
Dovizioso replaced in Misano Pietro Fittipaldi in the customer team WRT, Audi Sport Team. The Brazilian, who won at his DTM-debut in Hockenheim, storming straight to the point and set a new DTM lap record scored, missing in Misano due to a scheduling conflict with the formula 1 Grand Prix in Canada.
