Perfect slopes for the winter sports enthusiasts are not only available in Austria, France, Italy or Switzerland, countries such as Slovakia, Bulgaria or Spain to provide good conditions for winter sports. The ADAC has compiled the equipment regulations for winter tyres and snow chains in eleven major destination countries.
Who’s driving around to Norway on a skiing holiday, there has to be mandatory with winter tires on the road. Should but the winter road conditions, cars with summer tires with snow chains fitted. Otherwise, a penalty threatens from about 80 Euro. In Spain and Poland, however, there is no winter tires nor Snow chains for passenger Cars.
In Italy, the provisions are not uniformly throughout a country, each province can decide for yourself about the regulations. In many Parts of Italy there is no General obligation to use winter tyres. However, the appropriate tyre size can be indicated by signs in the short term. The same is true for snow chains.
In South Tyrol cars on winter roads, may be only with winter tyres on the road and on the Brenner highway A 22 to Affi is 15. November to 15. April a General obligation to use winter tyres. In the Aosta valley, this is from 15. October until 15. April. It must reckon with fines of between 41 and 335 euros.
So, who is in the direction of the Alps or any other ski resorts on the way, should be informed in advance about the applicable rules and, where appropriate, use winter tyres or snow chains pack in the trunk.
