12.4.2019 Leipzig. With the all-electric Porsche Macan, which is rolling at the beginning of the next decade, from the Band, incorporated the Porsche Leipzig GmbH and the axle Assembly at the site.
So far, the factory has outsourced this operation to a system supplier that will continue to be for the current models Panamera and Macan. “With the decision, the truck mounting for the next Generation of Macan’s in-house production implement, is designed to raise the profile of our work and make it more flexible”, confirms Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Leipzig GmbH. The first purely electrically powered Compact SUV from Porsche will be based on the so-called PPE-architecture (a Premium Platform, Electric), Porsche has co-developed with Audi.
The truck mounting will be located in the immediate plant vicinity. Their control is based on the Porsche production System, with clear responsibility for Quality, short circles and Just-in-Sequence-connection to the vehicle’s production. Through the consistent implementation of the Porsche production 4.0 the processes can be made much smarter and sleeker.
Together with the technical development, for example, all processes are secured at an early-stage digital and virtual. With the fifth Expansion of the Leipzig plant, Porsche is creating the conditions necessary to produce on the existing production line in addition to gasoline and Hybrid models in the future, fully electric vehicles.
