28.4.2019. The Team Audi Sport ABT, Schaeffler has a good chance to win both titles in the formula E. The spectacular E-Prix in the French capital, Paris occupied, Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi, the places three and four.
Robin Frijns celebrated with the Audi e-tron FE05-of-the-Audi customer teams Envision Virgin Racing its first win in the electric racing series.
Eight races, eight different winners: The FIG-FIA-formula-E-championship is unpredictable and spectacular. In Paris, the whimsy of April, provided the weather for additional drama in the thrilling title fight. Sun, rain and even hail alternated during the race on the tight street circuit around the famous Invalides. Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi kept in extremely difficult conditions with a cool head. From the start places seven and eight, they went to the courts three and four to the front.
“That was an incredible race,” said Daniel Abt after his second Podium of the season. “After a strong start with a great Fight I had the feeling to be able to win today. But then the rain came and it was crazy. I could see through my visor, almost nothing more. The car sponge on and I had zero Grip. I said to myself: don’t do anything Stupid, bring the car to the finish. This is an important Podium, we need these points.“
Team-mate Lucas di Grassi expressed his satisfaction: “It was a good race from eighth to fourth place. The conditions were extremely difficult, but we’ve won a lot of points. I’m now Fourth in the championship. We continue to catch up. Thank you to Audi and the whole Team for the great Job today. I am looking forward to the next race in Monaco.“
Lucas di Grassi claimed after the eighth of 13 races this season, with only eleven points behind, equal on points with third-placed António Félix da Costa (BMW) in fourth place in the standings. Daniel Abt is just eleven points behind in eighth place. In the team standings, Audi Sport took Schaeffler ABT in Paris the most points.
“With the fantastic second Podium for Daniel and Lucas right behind it in fourth place, we have brought today a lot of points and are in both Championships more fully into the title fight,” said team boss Allan McNish. “I’m with both drivers and the Team very happy.”
