Volkswagen group appoints Professor Ye Qi in the sustainability Advisory Board

29.8.2019. The Volkswagen group has appointed Professor Ye Qi from Hong Kong to the new member in its independent sustainability Advisory Board.

The Chairman of the Board of the Volkswagen group Herbert Diess said: “The sustainability Advisory Board is a very important body for the Volkswagen AG. He has given important impulses for the decarbonisation strategy of the group. We are pleased that the Council is now complemented with Professor Ye Qi in order to a further well-known experts. His Expertise in the field of regenerative energy generation in an urban environment is outstanding.“

Ye Qi is a Professor and Director of the “Institute of Public Policy” at the “Hong Kong University of Science and Technology”. His research interests include environmental governance and policy for the environment, energy, climate change and urbanization. His current research focuses on the energy transition and the production and use of renewable energy in accelerating urbanized world. Ye Qi what since the beginning of the nineties in research and teaching at universities in New York, Berkeley, and Beijing.

The international cast of Volkswagen’s sustainability Advisory Board was appointed in 2016 to support the group’s strategic themes for sustainability and social responsibility. The now nine-person body acts independently, is not bound by instructions and with extensive information, consultation and initiative rights go equipped.
