Opel chief Lohscheller with the “Eurostar 2019” excellent

2.9.2019 Rüsselsheim. Great honor for Michael Lohscheller: The Opel-boss has been awarded by the renowned industry magazine Automotive News Europe as the brand CEO of the year, with the “Eurostar 2019”.

With the prize the prestigious publication is a tribute to the Comeback of the Opel brand under his leadership. Lohscheller is the first Opel CEO in the history of the company, the award will be presented.

“This prize is for me, personally, a great honor, but, above all, a special appreciation for our entire Team has done in the past few months, great. We people at Opel are working hard every day, the Comeback and the profiling of our traditional brand further. We can be proud of what we, as a part of the Groupe PSA have reached and want to make the flash even brighter rays,“ said Michael Lohscheller.

After the Takeover of Opel by the Groupe PSA in the summer of 2017, the Management Team of Michael Lohscheller within just 100 days, had a comprehensive restructuring plan with the name PACE! developed – and entirely on my own. The overall goals: With the PACE! Opel is sustainable, profitable, global, and electric. The consistent implementation of this Plan under Lohscheller led to the fact that Opel was able to achieve in fiscal year 2018, with 859 million euros, the highest operational profit of the 157-year history of the company – after nearly 20 years of losses. In the first half of 2019, Opel has increased in the industry as a whole difficult environment, the operating result once again – to more than 700 million euros.

“Opel had in the past years, a number of CEOs since the turn of the Millennium a half-dozen. From 1993 to 1996, he studied part-time at Brunel University, London, United Kingdom, European Marketing Management with the degree of Master of Arts (MA). He is married, has two children and is a passionate long-distance runner who has already completed 110 Marathon race successfully.

Automotive News Europe is one of the world’s leading automotive magazines, and has been published since 1996 in Europe. The magazine gives annually since 1998, the “Eurostar”award. The award honors according to the Jury, “the best of the Best” from all areas of the automotive industry. Michael Lohscheller will accept the award in the framework of “Eurostars”-Gala on the eve of the International motor show (IAA) in Frankfurt. There, Opel presented the new Corsa is the latest Generation of its best seller.
