World premiere of the Porsche Taycan

5.9.2019 Toronto/Berlin/Fuzhou. With a spectacular world premiere simultaneously on three continents, Porsche has unveiled yesterday its first all-electric sports car in front of an audience. “The Taycan combines our Tradition with the future. He continues to write the success story of our brand – a brand that has fascinated for more than 70 years, and people around the world thrilled,” said Oliver Blume, Executive Board Chairman of Porsche AG, opened the world premiere in Berlin: “This day marks the beginning of a new Era.”

The four-door sports sedan puts together a unique package from Porsche-typical Performance, connectivity, and full suitability for everyday use. As well As the modern production of high methods and the product substance of the Taycan in the areas of sustainability and the digitization of the new standards.

“We have promised for the era of electric mobility a real Porsche – a fascinating sports car that inspires not only technologically and driving dynamic, but people around the world is just as fascinated as his legendary predecessor. Now we deliver,“ says Michael Steiner, a member of the Executive Board of Porsche AG – research and development.

Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo hot the first models of the new series. They form the spearhead of the Porsche E-Performance, and are among the most powerful series models, the sports car manufacturer currently has in its product portfolio. Less powerful variants of the Allradlers follow in this year. By the end of next year, the first derivative with Taycan Cross Turismo already. By 2022, Porsche is investing more than six billion euros in electric mobility.

Performance meets efficiency

In the top version of the Turbo S is the Taycan comes up to 560 kW (761 HP) Overboost performance in Conjunction with the Launch Control, the Taycan Turbo up to 500 kW (680 HP). From the state-of-the Taycan Turbo S accelerates in 2.8 seconds from zero to 100 km/h, the Taycan Turbo in 3.2 seconds. The range is up to 412 km with the Turbo S and up to 450 km with the Turbo (after WLTP). The maximum speed for both four-wheel drive models at 260 km/h.

The Taycan is the first production vehicle to compete with a system voltage of 800 volts, instead of the electric cars of the usual 400 volts. Of Taycan driver to benefit, in particular, on-the-go: In a good five minutes of power for up to 100 km range (after WLTP) is charging with direct current (DC) fast-charging network will be tracked. The charging time for five to 80 percent SoC (State of Charge/battery charge) is in near-perfect conditions for 22.5 minutes, the maximum load power (Peak) 270 kW. The total capacity of the Performance-battery Plus is a total of 93.4 kWh. Home can charge Taycan driver your car comfortably with up to eleven kW alternating current (AC).

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Porsche Taycan Turbo are now available for order and costs in Germany, including country-specific equipment and VAT 185.456 Euro or 152.136 Euro.

Minimalist exterior Design with Porsche DNA

With its clear, puristic Design of the Taycan signaled that a new era has begun. At the same time, it unmistakably bears the Porsche Design DNA. From the front it has a particularly wide and flat, with strongly curved wings. The Silhouette is determined from the sporty, to the rear sloping roof line. Characteristic of the page is also a game with strong sculpture instrumentation. The sleek cabin, the indented C-pillar and the pronounced shoulders of the front fenders lead to a powerful, brand-typical emphasis of the tail. There are also innovative elements such as the Porsche lettering in glass optics that is integrated in the light band at the rear. The aerodynamically optimized shape with a cW-value of 0.22 provides a decisive contribution to low energy consumption and thus a high reach.

Unique interior Design with a wide-screen Band

Clearly structured and with a completely new architecture, the Cockpit is the Start of a new Era. The free-standing and curved instrument cluster is the highest point on the instrument panel. Thus, the driver is stressed axis. A key to 10.9-inch Infotainment Display, and an optional Display for the front passenger are summarized in a form-fitting manner to a glass ribbon in Black-Panel look. All user interfaces were designed for the Taycan completely new. In General, the number of classic Hardware has been reduced controls, such as switches or buttons heavily. Instead, the control is carried out in an intelligent and intuitive – to-use Touch-controls or the voice control that listens to the command of the “Hey Porsche”.

Porsche Taycan for the first time, a fully leather-free equipment version. Interior sizes of innovative recycling material for the sustainability of the electric sports car stress. “Fußgaragen” – cut-outs in the battery in the rear footwell, ensure the Seating comfort in the rear and allow the sports car, the typical low vehicle height. Two trunks are available: The front compartment holds 81 liters, the rear of 366 liters.

Innovative propulsion engine and two speed transmission

Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo have two of the most efficient electric motors on the front axle and rear axle with four-wheel drive. From the high efficiency of the permanent-magnet synchronous machines, both the range and the continuous power of the drive benefit. E-machine, gearbox and Pulse inverters are combined to form a compact drive module. The modules have the highest density of power (kW per litre of space) of all offered on the market today electric drives. A special feature of the E-machine is coils, the so-called Hairpin-winding of the stator. The technology makes it possible to bring more copper in the Stator. This power and torque increase with the same volume.

The rear mounted two-speed gearbox is a Porsche-developed Innovation. The first gear path gives the Taycan an even greater acceleration from the Start, while the high gear ratio, the second speed is a high efficiency and power reserves. This is true even at very high speeds.

Suspension system networked to Central

Porsche used the chassis of the Taycan a Central networked control system. The integrated chassis control system Porsche 4D Chassis Control analyzes and synchronizes all of the suspension system in real-time. Among the innovative chassis system, adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology, including electronic damper control, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) and the electro-mechanical roll stabilization system, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC Sport) including Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus). Unique all-Wheel drive with two electric motors, as well as the recuperation system. The possible recuperation power is up to 265 kW, significantly higher than the competition. In the test driving has shown that approximately 90 percent of braking actions in everyday life take place only on the E-machine without an additional activation of the hydraulic wheel brakes.

The profiles of the different driving programmes, generally follows the same philosophy as in the other Porsche model series. Added to this are special settings that allow it to use the purely electric drive optimally. Four driving modes are available: “Range”, “Normal”, “Sport” and “Sport Plus”. In the mode “Individual” can also be configured individual systems as desired.

World premiere on three continents at the same time

The world premiere of the Porsche Taycan was held simultaneously in North America, China and Europe. On these three continents, the main sales markets for the new electric sports car are located. In addition, the event locations represent the three paths of the sustainable energy economy: the Niagara falls on the border between the U.S. state of New York and the canadian province of Ontario for the water power, the solar Park in Neuhardenberg near Berlin, for the energy of the sun and of the wind Park on the island of Pingtan, around 150 kilometres from the Chinese city of Fuzhou, in Fujian province, for wind power. The forces of nature, which man apprehends similarly, with all the senses, such as the impressive power delivery of the first fully electric sports car from Porsche. The unique Three-fold Event was transmitted live on newstv.porsche.com in the world.

The fuel consumption and CO2 emission values were determined in accordance with the new measuring procedure WLTP. For the time being, the derivative NEDC are still values to specify. These values are in accordance with the previous NEDC measurement method calculated values are not comparable.

Further information on official fuel consumption and official specific emissions of CO2 can be taken from car emissions of new passenger cars in the “guidelines on fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new Passenger cars”, free of charge at all sales outlets and at DAT, free of charge, is available.
