17.6.2019 Alghero. Ceremony on the Podium in the beautiful port of Alghero: Kalle Rovanperä/Jonne holding tune (FIN/FIN) and team-mate Jan Kopecký/Pavel Dresler (CZE/CZE) achieved with their ŠKODA FABIA R5 evo a double victory in the WRC 2 category in the rally of Italy in Sardinia, the eighth running of the rally to the FIA world championship.
On the final four stages on Sunday, the factory rider delivered a mistake free ride, and secured ŠKODA Motorsport is the second double victory of the season in 2019 in the WRC 2 category. Rovanperä celebrated on sardines in addition to a flawless hat-Trick in the category, after he had already won in Chile and Portugal.
The final day of the rally Italy Sardinia, brought the final decision on the remaining two exams, near the coast North of the starting point and destination of Alghero, which were each complete two Times. Although the landscape of the Sardinian coast provided a stunning view, had both ŠKODA factory teams no time to enjoy the Scenery. And that is exactly what Kalle Rovanperä/Jonne holding tune and Jan Kopecký/Pavel Dresler managed.

Many thanks to the Team, it has done a great job,“ said Rovanperä at the finish of the last stage. Kopecký said: “It is just great – congratulations and thanks to the Team that has provided us with a perfect rally car.”

In the WRC 2 category for private drivers, the French ŠKODA Team of Pierre-Louis Loubet and Vincent Landais had lost in the last Saturday test due to a tyre damage, the leadership temporarily. On Sunday, they fought back but to the top and won, as previously, with the rally Portugal, their category in front of Kajetan Kajetanovicz/Maciej Szepaniak, which had for the first Time in a ŠKODA FABIA R5 at the Start of fall.
