6.4.2019 Stuttgart/Chichester. Four of the world, Porsche has presented premieres at 77. Members Meeting in the UK for the First time, the Porsche Museum, makes four copies of the 917 this weekend on the demanding Goodwood Motor Circuit driving.
The 917 with chassis number one for the first Time since its Return to the original state from 1969 is used dynamically. Similarly, the 917/30-001 makes its debut after its restoration in the English Sussex. This 917-001 and 917/30-001 will meet for the first time at an event.
In addition to the first 917 and 917/30-001, the 917 KH and the 917/30 Spyder in Goodwood as well. One of the most important of the 917 KH is coat, short tail, body 15 in a Gulf. After the victory of the 24 hours of Le Mans, won the 917 short-tail in Martini Racing colors and the number “22” in the following year. The vehicle with the drivers Gijs van Lennep and Helmut Marko achieved 222 km/h and covered a distance of 5,335 kilometers – a record of 39 years.
The 917/30 Spyder is regularly represented at Goodwood. He makes about 1,200 HP from a 5.3 litre V12 engine and weighs in at only 850 kilograms, allowing it to reach a top speed of up to 375 km/h. Using a engine optimization Mark Donohue drove at the Talladega Speedway with 355,848 km/h, a speed record.
The newest entrant in Goodwood is the 917/30 Spyder. He appears in the distinctive Design of the sponsor and heating manufacturer Vaillant in the year 1975. The vehicle was built in 1972 and has 184 mm longer wheelbase than a normal 917. His first race, he completed already victorious: Vic Elford drove the 917/30 on the first place in the inter-series in Hockenheim.
At Goodwood, the cars of the Le Mans winners Richard Attwood and Neel Jani, along with former formula 1 and LMP1 driver Mark Webber. After this weekend the cars will leave the United Kingdom back in the direction of the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. 14. May to 15. September 2019, among other things, these four 917 are to be seen in the context of the special exhibition “50 years of the 917 – Colours of Speed”.
