ADAC: 52 percent of all breakdowns due to failure of the electrical system

23.4.2019. The General electrical system of car failed yesterday, much more frequently than in the past. This year’s breakdown statistics of the ADAC occupied. To 2018, the electrical system accounted for 52.1 percent of all breakdowns.

Of which 42 percent what accounted for solely on the battery. However, the electrics in 1998 was only 31.3 per cent of the glitches responsible. The main reason is the greatly increased number of electrical loads or control devices, the overwhelmed, the battery management system.

Return the number of breakdowns that affect the engine management is gone. This includes, for example, injection, sensor, and ignition. During 1998, 32.5 per cent of the glitches from this area came were there in 2018, only 19 per cent. The reason is that The technology has improved significantly in recent years, so that is less likely to default.

In the current evaluation of the investigated models, the BMW 1 – series and 3-series proved to be as reliable. All years of the series were among the 15 percent of the models, the sections on the best. So a little vulnerable: the BMW 2 -, 4 -, X1 and the Mitsubishi Colt.

What struck me negatively: Several models showed that for certain years, particular weaknesses. What is striking is the 2009 Ford S-Max with a breakdown of frequency by 113 per 1000 vehicles. In the case of relatively new models of the Nissan Qashqai (model years 2015 and 2016) proved to be a problem case: the values of 30 and 40 breakdowns per 1000 vehicles are many times higher than the breakdown frequency is equal to the age models from other manufacturers.

Since the stock of electric cars on German roads currently still relatively low, the breakdown of volume in this Segment in the limits: 400 times by the ADAC road came wakes up in the past year, to drivers of broken-down e-vehicles to help.

For the year 2018, the ADAC has evaluated nearly four million glitch no Council, and with the Figures of 1998 are compared. Detailed information on more than 120 models, lake www.adac.de/pannenstatistik.
