Real Pioneering Work

The new SEAT Arona 1.0 TGI is the world’s first SUV with CNG-technology. Specifically, the SEAT Arona is determined 1.0 TGI for one of the fastest growing vehicle segment in Europe: the boom in the Segment of Compact Crossover. With three CNG Tanks that hold a total of a content of 13.8 kg, it is designed for a range of up to 360 km in CNG operation.Due to its additional built-in 9-Liter gasoline tank for a total range of over 500 miles is possible.

The new SEAT Arona TGI is in the equipment variants Style, XCELLENCE, and FR. He has a 1.0-TGI-three-cylinder engine with four-valve technology, reaches its maximum output of 66 kW (90 PS) between 4,500 rpm and 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 160 Nm which is available between 1,900 rpm and 3,500 rpm.In combination with a 6-speed manual transmission the engine provides a higher degree of efficiency, as known from comparable motorized Diesel or petrol vehicles, and a very uniform acceleration. The CNG-SUV reaches a top speed of 172 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 13.2 seconds.

Expressive Appearance

The SEAT Arona TGI convinced in addition to his performance in the CNG Version of its expressive appearance, and by its striking Crossover Look. Like its conventionally powered model siblings, he offers a wide range of equipment options that meet the needs and Desires of different drivers.

With a variety of possible color combinations, it offers almost inexhaustible indivdual capitalization. Thanks to a ground clearance of 190 mm, a length of 4.138 mm, a width of 1,780 mm and a height of 1.552 mm, it is the ideal companion both on and off the streets of the urban jungle. The trunk offers a load volume of 282 liters.

New tank system for all three CNG models

New all three models that you will get a modified and larger gas tank system, which consists of three CNG single fuel tank is. The SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TGI and Arona 1.0 TGI each of the three steel fuel tank use, the SEAT Leon 1.5 TGI two steel tanks and a tank made of carbon fiber composite material.

So, the engines were revised generally and for operation with CNG what further optimized. In the past SEAT with the CNG-powered models of the SEAT Leon, SEAT Ibiza, SEAT Mii* has taken a pioneering position and volume of vehicles brought to the market, this is a cleaner and cost effective fuel.

SEAT Arona and SEAT Ibiza with a new 1.0-Liter TGI-engine

The new 1.0-litre TGI, three-cylinder engine with four-valve technology is up to 66 kW (90 HP) and has a maximum torque of 160 Nm, which lies between 1,900 and 3,500 Revolutions per Minute. He comes with both the new SEAT Arona 1.0 TGI as well as in the new SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TGI (combined fuel consumption: 3.3 kg/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 92 g/km; CO2 efficiency class: A+++).

The CNG variant has the same technical systems, such as the well-known 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, but has been expanded to include numerous additional components and components that are specifically designed for operation with compressed natural gas. The three CNG Tanks that are installed under a floor panel in the rear, a CNG filler next to the petrol filler neck, gas lines made of stainless steel, gas sensor and an electronic pressure regulator that regulates the CNG distribution in the TGI drive train.

The inner life of the 1.0-Liter engine has been comprehensively developed further, with The Nickel-chrome-coated piston new, for the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) as a fuel modified segment. In addition, the inlet and the outlet have been strengthened valves and valve seats, in order to increase the wear resistance. So, the arrangement of the intake valves has been revised in order to improve the CNG supply to the combustion chamber. The turbocharger is also lighter, which improves the response and a smooth power delivery.

SEAT Leon with new TGI engine

SEAT is expanding its CNG (compressed natural gas) powered variant of the popular compact-grader Leon SEAT with a new model, with its revised, 96 kW (130 HP) 1.5-Liter TGI-engine (combined fuel consumption: 3,7 kg/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 102 g/km; CO2 efficiency class: A) and three CNG Tanks with a total of 17.3 kg capacity, more engine power and a larger CNG range. Compared to its 1.4-litre predecessor, the performance increases with the new Motor 15 kW (20 HP), maximum torque of 200 Nm is available between 1,400 and 4,000 Revolutions per Minute.

The ultra-modern 1.5-Liter, four-cylinder engine with turbocharging and direct fuel injection (on the Basis of the TSI gasoline engine with the same displacement) in order to maximize efficiency and performance through an advanced automatic Start-stop system, the latest generation of turbochargers with variable turbine geometry and a combustion process in the Miller-cycle.

The components within the engine have been revised for the requirements of the CNG operation. The piston with Nickel-chrome coating contain the new segment that are designed for use with Gas, and reinforced valve seats for greater wear resistance. The intake valves have been increased in order to improve the gas flow in the direction of the combustion chamber.

Economical and environmentally friendly on-the-go, thanks to CNG

As well As the other models of the CNG family of SEAT the SEAT Leon 1.5 TGI petrol used only as an alternative fuel if the CNG Tanks are empty. With three CNG Tanks – one of which is in an advanced embodiment, is made of lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced plastic has the SEAT Leon 1.5 TGI, however, more CNG storage capacity. Overall, it has a capacity of 17.3 kilograms, which allows a reach of up to 440 kilometers in pure CNG operation. Thanks to the automatic switching to petrol, this distance can be extended even remarkable, so that a total of significantly more than 550 kilometres can be completed without a fuel stop.

The SEAT Leon 1.5 TGI is, therefore, more environmentally friendly and offers a better price-performance ratio, mainly due to the higher efficiency of CNG compared to other fuels: 1 kg of CNG energy generated corresponds to 2.0 litres of LPG, 1.3-litre Diesel and 1.5 litres of petrol. The new SEAT Leon 1.5 TGI is now available in the most popular equipment variants FR and XCELLENCE. The extra charge for the SEAT Leon 1.5 TGI compared to the TSI Version is normally only 1,500 euros.

Spring action: SEAT price is similar to the difference to the TSI version

As a special Highlight, the SEAT of Germany balances until the end of June 2019, the difference in purchase price compared to a similar gasoline engine. So in the SEAT Ibiza 1.0 TGI and the SEAT 1.0 TGI SEAT assumes in the course of the promotion up to mid-year, the price difference in the amount of around € 1,000.

*The stated fuel consumption and emission values were determined in accordance with the legally stipulated measuring method. Since 1. September 2017 to be certain a new car after the worldwide harmonised test procedures for Passenger and light commercial vehicles (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure, WLTP), a more realistic test method for the measurement of the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions type-approved. From 1. September 2018 will be the WLTP gradually replace the new European driving cycle (NEDC). Due to the more realistic conditions of the test, the WLTP measured fuel consumption and CO2 emission values are in many cases higher than the NEDC measured. For more information about the Differences between WLTP and NEDC, lake www.seat.de/ueber-seat/wltp-standard.html

Currently, the NEDC to communicate values is mandatory. If it is a new car, which are type-approved in WLTP, are derived from the NEDC-values of the WLTP-values. The additional indication of the WLTP-values can be made up to their mandatory use is voluntary. To the extent that the NEDC-values are given in ranges, they do not refer to a single, individual vehicle and are not part of the offer. They serve solely for purposes of comparison between different vehicle types. Additional equipment features and accessories (attachment parts, format, etc.), you can Tire the relevant vehicle parameters such as e.g. weight, rolling change, resistance and aerodynamics-and, together with Weather and traffic conditions and individual driving behavior, the fuel consumption, the power consumption, CO2 emissions and driving performance values of a vehicle affect.

Further information on official fuel consumption and the official specific emissions of CO2 can be taken from car emissions of new passenger cars in the “guidelines on fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new Passenger cars”, at all sales outlets and at DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen (www.dat.de) is available for free.
