Before smart hit the Chapter in the E-mobility completely, throws a glance in the rear-view mirror, and commends the Edition so what made the first smart vehicles with internal combustion engines and in Grcic’s Design for the load #21 is manifested. “#21 reminds be of something Special, of 21 years, smart, and, for me, is synonymous Symbol for much of what moves a with 21: free, cross borders, to break out, even the small Rebellion, which carries to the outside. These core thoughts, we leave the Final Collector’s Edition a reality, finally, we say goodbye to a piece of automotive history,“ says Konstantin Grcic.
The said turning point, that is to say, the beginning of a new Era, is to be found in the choice of the color concept, as well as in the entire Design. The color game is so smart, which is a tribute to the first Generation Of the Yellow shiny snout to lettering #21 in the Tag style on the matt black rear. The worn Yellow is similar to the original colour “hello yellow” and creates the for the Edition of so important a relation to the origin. ‘Reduce to the max’ promised, the concept of the very first vehicles. The idea at the time: The cooperation with different artists. So, among other things, the Swiss artist Roman Signer has had the car through a kind of Tunnel, at the end of a paint bucket on the smart what is poured. With the Design of the Final Collector’s Edition – the franzten change from Yellow to Black – quoted Grcic’s design is also a part of this history.

With the “electric drive”, the first electric series car in Europe, underpinned the company, its innovation strength and demonstrated courage to go new ways.
“Far more than a car smart is and remains the great idea of a new urban mobility. The key step, the supply from 2020 onwards on a purely electric switch, therefore, is only logical. The Final Collector’s Edition is both a farewell and a new beginning and marks a significant milestone, not only in the history of smart, but rather in the direction of the future,“ summarizes Daniel Lescow, head of brand and product management for smart, the idea of the on-load #21.
