21.6.2019. Volkswagen has opened in its Glass factory in Dresden yesterday, a new IT development centre. In the “Software Development Center and Production” (SDC Production) work in perspective, up to 80 newly recruited IT specialists in Volkswagen Industrial Cloud.
The Industrial Cloud will, in the future, the networking of all 122 of the group-wide manufacturing facilities of Volkswagen. The goal is, all of the data together and to digitize the production and logistics across the Board.
For the Transparent factory, the opening of the SDC means the consistent further development of the high-tech location and the “Center of Future Mobility”. For the opening day of a first visible application for optical quality control in the Assembly exists. A focus is on the use of artificial intelligence that mimics the human vision adequately. The SDC has developed the Software for the optical quality control of the automated Primer-order, the door Triangle window – the robot application comes from the Dresden Startup change-bots.

With the rapid development of industry-oriented software industry, the pioneering role of the TU Dresden in the communication technology, and the University for technology and economy Dresden (HTW) has the Saxon capital that are clear location advantages. More than a third of the medium-term target 220 specialists for the Industrial Cloud will therefore work in Dresden.
