New Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01 return 218 laps on the Italian test track

The preparations for the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz EQ formula E Teams in the FIG FIA formula E championship run on high tours. After the successful Shakedown of the new Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01 at the end of March in Varano, the Team returned to the 24. and 25. June for a two-day Test at the Italian track back.
At the wheel of the vehicle, Gary Paffett and Stoffel Vandoorne took turns, completing two half-days of testing. Overall, the Team put in two days 218 rounds. In the course of the Tests, the team gathered important experience with the new Power Unit in terms of the Start in his debut season at the end of November.
“It was great to be back at the wheel of a vehicle with Mercedes-Benz Power,” said Gary Paffett. “Of course it is a different car than all the Mercedes vehicles that I previously drove, but it was a great Test. The professionalism and the engineering skills within the team are exceptional. Of course, much work still lies ahead of us, but the Test is really positive. We were able to lay many kilometres away, and the car was very reliable. I can’t wait to take a seat.“
“We had two positive days of testing in Varano,” confirmed Stoffel Vandoorne. “It’s nice to follow the development of our drive train since the Shakedown, I’m for some time. This is part of our long journey. Still a lot of work ahead of us and we are all aware of. But I think that the first impressions are very good. The base is right, and everything seems to be in order. That’s all it is at this time. It was a positive start.“
The first fully electric formula racing series goes on 22. November in Saudi Arabia, in its sixth season. Until then, there is the Mercedes do Benz EQ formula E Team in the coming weeks and months, much in order to start the new adventure in the best possible prepared.
“We have completed in Varano our second Test, in preparation for season six,” said Ian James, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Formula E Ltd. “in all, there are two very positive test days on which we were able to test the new Power Unit in the car. But we have also seen that there is much to do in November to be well-prepared for the first races to travel.“
